Delft e Kinderdijk
Oggi ci siamo recati a Delft, una città nota per essere stata nel passato la residenza dei sovrani olandesi, per la produzione di un particolare tipo di ceramica, per l’università e numerosi musei.
Guidati da un docente del Nassau College, Frits Veltkamp, abbiamo visitato il centro storico ricco di importanti monumenti e di chiese gotiche. La cittadina è nota pure come la "piccola Amsterdam" per i numerosi canali e i maestosi palazzi settecenteschi, i cui proprietari erano ricchi mercanti.
Tra i più importanti monumenti c’è da notare la residenza di William D’Orange e la Nieuwe Kerch in stile gotico ove vengono seppelliti i sovrani olandesi. E’ interessante notare come la cittadina conserva ancora una sua particolare atmosfera medievale. Parte del nostro tempo libero è stata dedicata allo shopping, soprattutto all'acquisto di prodotti in ceramica.
Verso le 14:00 ci siamo recati Kinderdijk e abbiamo visitato i numerosi mulini a vento. E' ancora bello constatare che la cultura dei mulini a vento non è rimasta nel passato ma ancora oggi numerose famiglie curano il loro pezzo di patrimonio nazionale. Siamo entrati in un mulino a vento datato 1738, che all'interno presentava ancora la tipica struttura di una abitazione olandese, ad esempio il letto ricavato nella parete.
At 8.30 we arrived at school to ge the coach to Delft, famous for the porceleyne (white and blue). There we visited the most important places and some old buildings like the residence of William D’Orange. At 11.30 we were free to go shopping and eat something.
After lunch we went to Kinderdijk where we saw the windmills; we also visited a mill inside and we watched how it worked. The powerful mill sails serve to transmit the force of the wind on to large paddle-wheels which scoop up the water. The mills drain the excess water from the Alblasserwaard polders, which are situated below sea-level, after which the water is sluiced into the river Lek. Outside we saw two old people with “klompen”, that are typical shoes of the Netherlands.
It was a beautiful landscape and we took some pictures. At 3.30 p.m.we left for Breda and at school there were our Dutch friends that were waiting for us to go home.
In the evening we stayed at home with their families, we watched an English video and talked about us and our traditions. It was a nice day because we knew the most important traditions of the Netherlands.

Ieri siamo partiti per Delft per vedere le bellissime ceramiche (che a detta dei prof. sono molto rinomate).
Ad una prima impressione questa cittadina sembra essere come molte città italiane…con moltissimi "shop".
Ci siamo recati in una chiesa che aveva una particolarità…PENDEVA!!! Era simile alla nostra torre di Pisa.La nostra guida ci ha dettto che era il luogo dove William d’Orange venne ucciso.
Quindi ci siamo recati al centro di Delft dove è stato possibile visitare la bellissima chiesa centrale. Particolari le campane che non smettono mai di suonare. Abbiamo avuto anche la possibilità di poter girare liberi in città. Siamo partiti per Kinderdijk dove abbiamo percorso una lunghissima strada costeggiata da mulini. Fantastici!
At 7 we got up then we had breakfast with milk, English toast and butter.
Then some guys went to school by bike and others by bus. At 9 we left for Delft (a little town situated in the south of Den Hag) and we arrived there at 10:15.
We saw some old and historical buildings like the Nieuwe kerk (New Church) of William of Orange and other famous buildings.
At 12 we had lunch and we were free to go shopping till 1.00. At 1:15 we left for Kinderdijk to see windmills.
We arrived there at 2:15 and we saw a particular and beautiful countryside where there were the mills. After a long walk we went in one of the mills and it was made up of 3 floors. It was a beautiful experience because none of us had never been there before.
At 3:20 we bought some souvenirs about the local shop.At 4 we left the mills and at 5:30 we arrived at school. At school there were the families who picked up us. At 7 we had dinner with potatoes, meat, vegetables and a typical Sweedisch drink that is drunk only during Easter and Christmas time. At 8 we had a shower and we went to bed because we were tired!!
