Primo giorno a scuola
Alle otto e trenta iniziano, puntualissime, le lezioni. Molti di noi sono stanchi perchè non abituati alle lunghe pedalate in bici e alla temperatura un po' rigida.
Il Nassau college è una scuola moderna. L'edificio è nuovo e le attrezzature di cui la scuola dispone sono moderne. Non mancano efficienti strutture sportive dotate di campetti di calcio e di pallacanestro.
Gli alunni sono soliti aspettare all'ingresso il suono della campana. All'interno dell'edificio c'è un grande atrio con tanti tavoli dove gli alunni si incontrano, consumano la merenda e ripassano le lezioni. In un angolo c'è anche un pianoforte e uno di noi ci ha fatto ascoltare della buona musica.
Il motto della scuola, appare trascritto su una parete dell'atrio è "Ik en de ander de ander en ik", cioè "io e gli altri, gli altri ed io".
C'è stata anche una breve cerimonia di accoglienza durante la quale è avvenuto uno scambio di doni. Il nostro preside ha anche consegnato al preside del Nassau college di Breda il gagliardetto della provincia di Ragusa.
Today is the first day at school, after the week-end we spent with the families. We woke up at 6.30, we had breakfast and we went to school. It is 12 km far from home and we go there by bicycle. At 8.30 we arrived at school and we met some Dutch girls and our friends too.
The Dutch teachers welcomed us and then they explained something to us about Holland and about food. After that we watched a video about Holland and a movie and then we had lunch. After lunch we went to visit Breda.We saw the cathedral and the Beguine where in the past religious women, single or widows, lived in small houses.
Then we made another tour in the town and finally we came back to school where we took our bicycles and we rode home. We arrived at 4.30, we had a snack and then we wrote our diary. At 7.00 we had dinner. Food was very strange but we were happy to know the traditions and the customs of another country.
After dinner we watched a video with our host family; then we showed some photos of our town and we explained them something about it. At 9.p.m.we had a shower and we went to bed.
